SECOND CHANCE
This is a nice human interest story:
Somewhere between 9 and 10 a.m. Monday, the phone rang in the office of Jeff Thomason, a project manager for a development company that is building 150 homes in Chesterfield, N.J., off Exit 7 of the New Jersey Turnpike.“I’m hurt and I can’t play in the Super Bowl,” the caller said. “How would you like to play?”
It was not a joke. The caller was Chad Lewis, the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting tight end and Thomason’s friend. The day before, Lewis caught two touchdown passes in the Eagles’ 27-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, which put them in Super Bowl XXXIX against the New England Patriots on Feb. 6 in Jacksonville, Fla.
