WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “Melt“, Phil Roy, “Grouchyfriendly“:
I can’t touch you now
I’m paralyzed
I’m like a child
With the saddest eyes
You won’t talk to me
You’re over me
You won’t take me back
I need you back
You’re so alive
Makes me numb
I could survive
But I don’t want to
You’re the ruby and I’m the lead
Feeling heavy
Am I dead
But last night I had a dream
I saved your life
I proved my love
I took the bullet
I killed a shark
I kissed your hand
I thawed your heart
I thawed your heart.
Great song. I’ve never seen Phil live although I’d love to. People sometimes confuse him with The Other Phil Roy, the longtime owner of the now-departed Grendel’s Lair on South Street. (There’s a Gap there now.)
This is such a beautiful song, isn’t it? One of those songs where people hear it once and have to know who it is. (By the way, it’s co-written with his good friend Nicolas Cage.)
