What I’m Playing

I found a CD with my old demos while I was going through some things last night. “All That’s Left” is a song I wrote some years back, but I can feel it as if it were yesterday.
A storm blew across across the sky last night
Got up to close the window
Stayed up to watch the lights
Wished you were here to showYou’re thirty miles north of here
Did you hear the thunder?
Did you turn and pull her close
Hey, do you ever wonder‘Cause it felt so right
Why am I alone
And watching the night
Guess it was never real
I was just the other woman
All that’s left is how I feelAll that’s left is how I feel
All that’s left is what you said
I turn it over like a puzzle
In my head
And all that’s left are memories insteadThe weather turned so quick today
Should have brought a sweater
Seems like things start turning cold
When you should know better
Guess I missed the clues
Didn’t want to know
Now I’m left here with the blues
Filling the place
You poured in like water
And now you’re gone without a traceAll that’s left is how I feel
All that’s left is what you said
I turn it over like a puzzle
In my head
And all that’s left are memories
Instead.
