Not that the truth matters anymore:
WASHINGTON — The International Committee of the Red Cross documented what it called credible information about U.S. personnel disrespecting or mishandling Korans at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility and pointed it out to the Pentagon in confidential reports during 2002 and early 2003, an ICRC spokesman said Wednesday.Representatives of the ICRC, who have played a key role in investigating abuse allegations at the facility in Cuba and other U.S. military prisons, never witnessed such incidents firsthand during on-site visits, said Simon Schorno, an ICRC spokesman in Washington.
But ICRC delegates, who have been granted access to the secretive camp since January 2002, gathered and corroborated enough similar, independent reports from detainees to raise the issue multiple times with Guantanamo commanders and with Pentagon officials, Schorno said in an interview Wednesday.
I care. Everyone should care. If we cannot respect other people’s religions abroad, how far off will it be before we see the same here?
We are already seeing the early signs. Oy.
The ICRC is a liberal, America hating, extremist organization that collects blood to exist. How can you trust them?

Even if Newsweek had in fact lied, which of course it did not, and even if 15 people had died as a result, which would be very sad, had it actually happened that way, the unbelievable hypocrisy of Don Rumsfeld intoning “they lied and people died” would take your breath away, if sane people had not already had their breath taken away so frequently that breathing, in the presence of Republicans, is now a constant struggle.
I mean, Jesus fucking Christ, Bush lied, and what ought to be the big story–at least for the brain dead who do not already know it–is that bush lied and proof of it is currently before our eyes with the British Cabinet memos. Bush lied, and as Mr. Galloway said, a hundred thousand people died.
And Mr. Galloway was polite enough not to talk about torture.
Okay, okay, now…let me see if I have this right?
On the one side we have people who in their religous zealotry are empowered in the name of their God to cut off heads summarily at the side of the road if they so see it to be ?
Aid workers,who represent no nation but seek to relive and address the suffering, humanitarians who care for all regardless of religion race or creed , laboreres who with the sweat of their brow and braun in their backs rebuild a fragile infrastructure to benefit the people, women what ever, who ever?
Set bombs off at market squares and places of worship killing all manner of men women and children with out regard chanting God is great all the while?
And then are offended at a percieved disrespect of their holy book that proscibes such violent acts against offenders of the faith?
