Are They Reading the Same Constitution?

Oh, shut the fuck up:
WASHINGTON (AP) — An Alabama congressman says comedian Bill Maher’s comment that the U.S. military has already recruited all the “low-lying fruit” is possibly treasonous and at least grounds to cancel the HBO show.Republican Rep. Spencer Bachus takes issue with remarks on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” first aired May 13, in which Maher points out the Army missed its recruiting goal by 42 percent in April.
“More people joined the Michael Jackson fan club,” Maher said in giving a comic twist to his commentary. “We’ve done picked all the low-lying Lynndie England fruit, and now we need warm bodies.”
… “I don’t want him prosecuted,” Bachus said. “I want him off the air.”

This is like the fundamentalists knowing that hardly anyone is familiar enough with the Bible to argue when they use it as a source. It would be interesting to see how many Americans could answer even a few basic questions about the contents of the Constitution. I would guess it’s less than 10%. So anytime a politician says something is Constitutional, most people just say ‘OK’, well if a NATIONAL POLITICIAN says it’s in the Constitution it must be! They ARE sworn to defend it and all…
Oh yeah?
I want Bachus impeached. So what?
breaking news: “the chairman and ceo of HBO unexpectedly stepped down this evening. it has been disclosed that Michael Powell will be filling the seat. ‘this is only the beginning’ Powell remarked.”
What is it about Alabama? It’s like fly-paper for nutcase wingers who like to throw their weight around.
It seems to me that a lot of people should be from there–following a few years of looking for the exits.
We are in for a US version of the Kristallnacht pogrom against liberals, democrats, and other undesireables. We laugh about the wingers, but they are not being put into their cages and prosecuted, they are tolerated and revered. Until these “people” are publicly repudiated, they are innoculating the ’so called middle’ America with this type of diabribe. We are at the point were the majority don’t really get upset with them, so it becomes de facto acceptable.
Obviously, it was Maher’s use of the term “fruit” that distressed the gentleman from Alabama. Such a suggestion about our Brave Men (and Women) in Uniform!
“I don’t want him prosecuted.” I guess not, considering that he didn’t violate any laws, and that a trial would make your “possibly treasonous” comment look even more stupid, if that’s possible.
What year is it south of Maryland?
“What year is it south of Maryland?”
CMLXIV, or thereabouts.
