WASHINGTON, June 22 (Reuters) - The White House pressured Democrats on Wednesday to come up with their own solutions for overhauling Social Security rather than simply reject President George W. Bush’s proposals.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said a legislative proposal by a Senate Republican to overhaul Social Security without Bush’s treasured personal retirement accounts “calls the bluff” of Democrats who say they will not negotiate as long as the accounts are on the table.
“I think what the real question here is: Are Democratic leaders going to start coming forward with ideas and solutions or are they going to simply put up a stop sign and say no to solving this important priority for the American people?” McClellan said.
Yeah, well, I think Scott’s just a big doo-doo head.
2 obvious points that Scotty the barking poodle forgot. 1. Bush has never presented a proposal to congress. There literally is no proposal for the Dems to obstruct. 2. Messing up Soc. Sec. is not a high priority for the American Public. 2/3rds of the public have said they don’t want the admin. doing to S.S. what it’s done for Iraq, the military, or anything else it’s tried to “fix”.

here’s a plan…. how about we stop going around the country on the taxpayer’s dime trying to scare the nation about social security…. stop conveniently forgetting that many republicans are also against the bush administration’s plan…. take some responsibility for your actions…. end your tax cuts for the rich… then maybe social security would pay for itself.
