Winding Up for the Sales Pitch

It seems clear that despite the best efforts of the Rove machine and the corporate media, the American public has made up its own mind about the war in Iraq.
They’re not buying it.
It’s like that moment when you’re buying a car and you’ve caught the salesman in one lie too many. You say to yourself, “No way in hell am I giving a commission to this son of a bitch.”
America has finally had that used-car-salesman moment and there’s no turning back.
No matter what he says in his speech tonight, Bush will convince no one who doesn’t already support him. He’s lost whatever good will he may have once enjoyed from moderates and independents, and he can’t win a damned thing without it.
In one respect, that’s a good thing. In another, it makes some of us wonder: What won’t they do to stay in power?
What does it mean when so many citizens believe BushCo knew about 9/11 in advance? What does it say that so many people say (only half-joking): “His numbers are in the tank, time for another terrorist attack”?
These are desperate times, and they are desperate men. God help us.

You have much more faith in our fellow Americans than I do, Susie. You watch, that clown will spout the same old bullshit he’s been spouting for 4 and a half years and in the next few days his favorable ratings will jump 5-7 points.
Ignorance; Cowardice; Avarice
He will comence the wagging of the dog tonight. Fur will fly (lies) or he just might pull Osama out of his hat.
I think it is important to keep making the point:
“His numbers are in the tank, time for another terrorist attackâ€??
because they WILL orchestrate another terrorist attack if it furthers their agenda.
These guys (BushCo) are NOT above trying ANYTHING or KILLING anyone to get what they want.
I can’t imagine what he could say that will change his approval ratings on the war situation. I expect that he will spout the same old tired shit he’s been spewing, but with more facial contortions. Like we were a bunch of idiots that need to be talked down to.
I couldn’t find anything in the story about the public believing he knew about 9/11 in advance.
Could anyone elaborate?
