Groundhog Day

God, I am so fucked. I tried to re-install W2K last night and now my computer just keeps rebooting and trying to reinstall…
It just won’t stop.
It couldn’t find this one file, and it seems to be stuck there. I can’t get it into safe mode, it won’t do squat. I’m using dialup on the laptop my tech guy lent me and boy, it’s a challenge.
Just so you know.
Thanks for the donations; I’ll see if it’s enough to fix this damned thing. I’m ready to slaughter a goat and lay its entrails on the keyboard.
It all goes back to the “buy shit, you get shit” theory. When my computer fried two years ago, I replaced the motherboard with a cheapie. It featured integrated chips - little did I know that once one piece is bad, it affects everything else.
Arghhhh…..

It’s possible that the power supply could be causing at least some of your problems. It’s a component that fails more often than people think, and it’s really hard to diagnose because -other- components start behaving weirdly or frying.
If you’re getting a new motherboard, you should at least consider getting a new power supply. Have your tech guru make sure that you get one that’s fairly quiet and has enough power; I’ve been bitten both ways.
Good luck…
