tragic as the Natalee Holloway case might be, Natalee doesn’t have a seven year old child wondering where she is, nor was Natalee (to the best of our knowledge)
5 months pregnant.Here’s an overview of the important details in this
“missing woman� case:1) Latoyia (we should only use her first name) is not
white.
2) She does not have blonde hair.
3) She was not scheduled to get married last weekend.
4) She’s from West Philadelphia.
5) There may actually be a lead or two in her case.
6) HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY.
7) To the best of our knowledge, no one from Texas has yet offered to bring in cadaver dogs to search for Latoyia, nor have forensic dive teams volunteered to scour the Schuylkill or Delaware rivers.
8 ) Also to the best of our knowledge, the FBI hasn’t been requested to participate in the investigation, nor have any DNA samples been rushed to Washington, DC.

As sad as this may seem, it does makes a lot of sense. However, it is just another frank episode of the racism that has been in this country for years. This type of racism is not just with the news media, whether it is CNN, Fox News etc. It occurs in schools, government, military, etc.
Will it ever stop? What can we do to assist others in seeing what is so obvious to a number of people?
Lets not forget people sometimes don’t intentionly do this…it is instill and ingrain so deep that they don’t even realize that they are doing it.
This type of oblivious hurt and disconcern for others happen not only with race but also with others that are considered “different” by the standards set by the majority, for example obese people, foreign people, elderly, poor etc. can probably name a number of episode that they were made to feel less than others…
Please one person at a time we must be more aware of “Others” and realize the white, blonde, rich and famous are not the only people that deserve the peace, health and prosperity of the earth.

you know, who ever said that the run away bride and Natalee were attractive anyway? Maybe Latoya is shacked up with someone else and hiding out. No one knows why no one is paying attention to her. Perhaps it is not unusual in her demographic to go missing with a child and a pregnancy. WHat have you done for her except blame her tragedy on the white people?
Actually, it goes deeper than that. Blacks don’t care about blacks. We kill each other. We watch videos and buy CDs about snuffing each other out (and we wonder why Whites love rap). We dye our hair blonde as if our own hair color is “wrong.” The white media doesn’t care. But we don’t either. Latoyia is attractive (that helps). What about the less attractive women still missing who won’t get any publicity? It’s a sick country. Land of the free? Free to be stupid.
Being black doesn’t help-but I think the main thing is how much you or your family are worth. We are just not worth the time or the energy.
Has anyone thought of going to Larry King’s publicist or news network? He is very good at bringing things from a lower priority to direct spotlight…….
I DO NOT THINK THAT THE DIFFERENCE IS RACIAL. I BELIEVE THAT THE REAL ISSUES ARE ECONOMIC. LACI PETERSON AND NATALEE HOLLOWAY HAVE PARENTS THAT ARE AFFLUENT AND THAT KNOW WHAT TO SAY AND HOW TO KEEP THE STORY IN THE MEDIA.
THIS ISN’T THE ONLY STORY THAT PEOPLE HAVE DECLARED A RACIAL ISSUE…ITS ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY. PEOPLE WITH MONEY KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THINGS BECAUSE OF A SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT THAT THE REST OF US JUST DO NOT HAVE. THIS ISNT A BAD THING…WHAT IS BAD IS THAT THE REST OF US DON’T KNOW HOW OR FEEL ENTITLED. I AM WHITE BUT ECONOMICALLY I AM POOR AND UNENTITLED.
I must agree with Judy’s statement, its not about race, it all about money and who has it and who doesnt! People dont stop and think about how many persons are missing each day. Do you hear about each and everyone of them on the news? NO, you dont! You only hear about those few whoose family have money and are able to contact the media and have the media push the story of their missing loved ones. You must admit that Natalee’s family have certainly done their homework and have contacted each and every media medium. Latoyia’s family needs to do the same, if they have money or not! I am praying for the family of Natalee and now I will pray for the family of Latoyia as well!

It really is a shame, but true, we as a people must demand a change in the way poor people are viewed. It’s almost as if she deserved it or she really is not missing, just ran off with some man , etc. Her life is important too. So what her family does’nt have millions. Natalie’s family has so-called friends who helped with a million dollar reward. Where are our rich friends whom we know about who have money to post, but don’t. You know who you are. Do something to help. Take care of your own.
Why use only her first name? Her last name, Figueroa, is Hispanic. Do you forget that Laci Peterson was half Hispanic, and that her maiden name was Rocha? She was not exactly “white” as some argue, yet her case was highly publicized. It’s more a matter of economic clout, and if your family is able to put up a large enough reward and has connections in the media you are better able to get the word out. It’s not about race, and I’m sure there are dozens of missing white people we’ll never hear about.

Hello,I am sorry to hear about Latoyia. I also agree with you about the racial problem. Any woman black white yellow or red should be treated equal. I grew up in the sixties and there seems to be more more racial problems now. Why did it become, almost a moot thing, that pregnant women are dying faster by murder than at any other time in our history. A woman thinks the father is feeling like her, excited, nervous, can’t wait. But he is usually saying what she wants to hear. If nothing else,you should shout from the building tops, stop every policeman you see, ask people over and over if they saw anything. And still push it in the faces of the news paper and any one who will listen. Good luck and bless you. and keep working till something happens.

How many young women are missing in the USA as of one month ago…let alone over the past several months or longer?
Why don’t we hear about each of them? I think the press/media is less prejudicial than it simply loves a story that smacks of the most mystery..therefore inciting a lot more public attention…
I absolutely agree that racial prejudice is a BIG problem in the US, as well as prejudice based on one’s socioeconomic status, so therefore it is the rich white people who everyone hears about, not poor minorities. I have to disagree with Barbara, as it is not only blacks who are treated badly. Remember the murder of the KOREAN man in Michigan several years ago by American auto workers feeling threatened by JAPANESE car makers. However, it would be foolish to deny that most racism is directed towards blacks. This cannot be allowed, and as a result of this nation-wide racism, almost one million people died in 1994. This was in the African country of Rwanda, where the two tribes, the Hutus and the Tutsis, fought, and eventually over 800,000 Tutsis were slaughtered by the Hutus in a horrific, bloody genocide that lasted for 100 days. The world said “never again” after the Holocaust, but because it was black Africans dying, no one cared or intervened.
But in Kosovo, we helped the Bosnians and Albanians being slaughtered by the Serbs because they were white Europeans who look like us (the people making the decisians, I mean). This racial discrimination is unacceptable, especially on a global scale, but also on a national level. I hope sincerely that Latoyia is found alive soon and returned to her family.
