I watched the video and honestly, I couldn’t see which finger he raised. I’ll have to take other’s opinions on it.

I retract - it definitely is a thumb (Darn!)

You can’t analyze just one picture, you have to watch the pertinent section of the video in slow motion. I had the Leno show Tivo’d and I was able to see it slow speed and it’s defintely a thumb. He does this slight twist with his hand witch gives you the false impression it is his finger. I wish it were his middle finger too (which I thought all day long while at work watching it on a very small video feed), but facts are facts.
