It’s actually VERY effective, in that it humanizes a fetus. And it keeps the attention on the fetus, rather than on the narrowing limit of choices that face his mother.
*HIS* mother! Keep that in mind. Because the character appears male, so the (normal) socially-dictated deference of (good) females to males is required too. Especially on behalf of the mother, that ungrateful bitch.
Imagine if there were a cartoon script that showed the mother as a 17-year-old who had to complete high school. Imagine if the focus were left on her. That choice of a baby doesn’t just transform her life. It becomes her life. Period.
Therefore, the pro-life people can’t permit any framing of the discussion to shift from a focus on the fetus.

It’s well worth the read. I submitted it to the editor of my local paper. Being in Jerry Fahlwell and Pat Robinson country it’ll be interesting to see if it gets published tho.
