Another Godly Man

From the Left Coaster via Media Matters, well-known man of God Pat Robertson calls for an assassination (apparently there are several footnotes under “Thou shalt not kill,” right near the “Godless secular humanists who hold life cheap”):
From the August 22 broadcast of The 700 Club:
ROBERTSON: There was a popular coup that overthrew him [Chavez]. And what did the United States State Department do about it? Virtually nothing. And as a result, within about 48 hours that coup was broken; Chavez was back in power, but we had a chance to move in. He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he’s going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent.
You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. And I don’t think any oil shipments will stop. But this man is a terrific danger and the United … This is in our sphere of influence, so we can’t let this happen. We have the Monroe Doctrine, we have other doctrines that we have announced. And without question, this is a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil, that could hurt us very badly. We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don’t need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.

Whoa…. How can he attack Chavez when a few years ago it was them queers who caused all the world’s problems. Is Patty jumping on a new uting badwagon?
Um….. I think they were the entity behind the coup. In fact, I think, we recognized the coup leaders as the legitimate gov’t until the people broke the coup. But, Heh.. Indeed..!
The question is, is Robertson reflecting views other than his own? And if so, whose?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?
He has no doubt been put up to this by Rove, to distract from Bush’s problems. Do you doubt it?
So, he says Chavez is championing the communists AND the radical Muslims?
Pick one, please.
Ghandi said that Christians are the only people who believe that Jesus was not a pacifist.
heh… what do you expect from one of the chimp’s buddies?
I think old Pat is getting wonky…still smart as a fox in getting media attention..this will raise him higher in the eyes of his followers and they will send cash….
I think that Phill has it right … it seems that everytime Pat’s in need of money he does/says something that is totally outrageous/left field. This seems to be a “habit” among televangelists (tele-self-promoters rather). Then the money is going down — something they do/say goes up and it seems the money starts coming in … Oral Roberts was a good example, Jan Crouch’s hair gets bluer when they need money, etc. etc. etc. …
And I have to agree, at one point it was us (the gays) that were causing all the world’s problems…now it’s Chavez? … No wonder people that only connect with their religion on TV are confused!!!
