God and the Hurricane

So if God really does punish people, what does it mean when He switches the hurrican track away from New Orleans (well-known den of iniquity) and instead slams it into Alabama and Mississippi, possible the most God-fearing states in the union?

Dedicated to all the useless twits who will be on television today “covering” the hurricane aftermath…
P.S. The coastal counties of Mississippi and Alabama were always a little more cosmopolitan and less provincial than the rest of the state, pre-Reagan/Bush era, that is.
“…Alabama and Mississippi, possible the most God-fearing states in the union?”
Unless ‘Bama & Mississippi have changed dramtically since I was stationed at Keesler Field in 1959-64, it is an oxymoron for them to appear in the same sentence with “God fearing.”
The line will be that G-d was attacking the casinos of Gulf Port and Biloxi. There’s always an excuse for their version of G-d.
Maybe God just doesn’t like Christians; the same way he had it in for that Job guy.
Maybe God aimed for Venezula and missed.
Maybe he just wanted to make some sort of point about sending the National Guard back to the U.S. to, y’know, guard the nation.
I would agree to some degree about the comment about South Bama being the a God fearing state but as for that part of Old Miss well that might just be another thing. As Bob so eloquently put it, that is a true example of an oxymoron. Since my departure from Biloxi, the area has become a den of iniquity that rivals The Big Easy. They promised jobs but neglected to tell the people that the would pay only minimum wage and only if you could qualify. I have to say though that prostitution and robbery did grow as a major industry there. They promised properity to the masses that resided there but the real estate barons jacked up the prices so far that no one could afford to live there.
I guess if we are talking about God punishing well I guess the hurricane was his dice that he threw for 7 and got snake eyes.
