I was talking to a friend in D.C. who passed along the following story.
Reporters were asking the openly gay congressman Barney Frank if David Dreier was denied DeLay’s leadership position because he was too moderate - or because he was gay. Frank said it was because Dreier was too moderate, and then quipped, “And I’m going to a moderate bar after work tonight.”

I allways thought being a moderate was being someone who had too much faith in polite fiction.
Arnie is Driers fag hag?
Thats what I heard at a drag show in Sacramento last night….
Heh Heh.
As a constituent of Congressman Frank, I can safely say that he’d never be caught dead in a moderate bar.
I think it was the perfect politcal response; Give an answer if someone opposes cannot be refuted, yet give yourself a way out. This is why I hate politicians.
Barney Frank has one sharp sense of humor.
This guy’s just gotta be a Senator some day.
Barney FOR SENATOR!!! He would make a helluva better Senator than John Kerry.
Hell, why not president?
The MSM would be in tatters after one Presidential Press
meeting(?). They would not know what hit them! JFK had nothing on Barney Frank!
Barney Frank is an arrogant SOB. I’ve met him twice and both times he was highly annoyed at being called on letting the stolen elections slide. He is NO better than Kerry. We need a CLEAN sweep.
But that was a clever comeback, I’ll give him that.
I’ve thought for a long time that Frank is far and away the the smartest person in the House. And he has a real sense of humor.
Give ‘em hell, Barney.
A moderate bar? no kool-aid here! The Ds need an onside brawl. Separate the Real Dems from the DINOs and start the party over. Frank has been on the right side of the issues more often than not, he (and all the progressive Ds) is hobbled by the “moderate” Dems. Half of the Ds in the Senate voted to confirm Roberts. The Democratic leadership has led us into a dead end alley where the thugs have been able to beat them sensless for the past decade. Kerry spoke two weeks ago, finally saying the things he should have said BEFORE the election, how lame.
It’s too bad that Driers’ rumored preferences are even an issue (or Franks’, for that matter), Record and integrity would be better determinants. It’s particularly painful to read leftys slamming people over their prefs, though when they hide their tastes and persecute other people for being more open, they deserve outing, otherwise, none of my business.

Wasn’t it Barney Frank who,in May of 2005, was sticking up for Tom Delay and admonished Howard Dean for for calling the Hammer a criminal. I’m from Massachusetts and the only Democrat I’m not willing to give up is Ted Kennedy. Barney Frank for president, what a joke! I remember when Congressmen Franks used to fight the good fight, but these days he just seems too comfortable. Let’s clean out the Democrats that are rubber stamps for the GOP, then go after the Republicans.
Draft Howard Dean “08″
I was in the room yesterday (at a theater near Rutgers U.) when he told that one and it got a good laugh.
He also said of “moderate” Republicans (I’m paraphrasing as best I can remember) that their outlook is founded on three principles: fear, obfuscation and denial.
Barney Frank was accompanied by the man who will hopefully become the next senator from New Jersey: Rep. Frank Pallone.
Al Gore for President!
Your’e Not Gay when you are on top!
God bless our Barney … po’ boy is two drinks (and a few indictments) away from being the next James Traficant.
Heh heh indeed. Stole it. Thanks.
