Joe Trippi dropped by Drinking Liberally tonight. Boy, that was fun. Since our regulars are never ones to shy away from an argument, we had some nice rowdy discussions going all night.
One of the things I really liked was how he said if Democrats insist on practicing transactional politics (grounded in the idea of “vote for me and I give you this”) vs. transformational politics, grounded in ideals, it didn’t matter who won the next election. (He also predicted the next president would be an independent.)
He knew who I was. (I’m always so shocked when people do.) I’d handed him my card and he said, “Cool, I love Suburban Guerrilla!”
Hmm. You think there might actually be something to this blog stuff the kids are all talking about?
Yes, I do. You got to meet Joe Trippi!. Son of a bitch, he’s an alum, SJSU.
[smiles] Life can be a lot more surprising than that. Watch.

Joe Trippi is no stranger to progressive blogs - I had a Chimpmail exchange with him during the Dean campaign over on The Smirking Chimp website.
That said, I’d really love to hear his take on what happened to the Dean campaign in Iowa, so, yeah, I’m jealous.
