1. McNabb needs to sit. He’s obviously playing in a lot of pain, and it would be better for everybody if he had the surgery and started the rehab process. We have a better chance if we try to salvage the season with a wildcard under Detmer or MacMahon (and get McNabb back in the playoffs) than we do if McNabb continues to be this erratic.
2. Inform Andy Reid that if at the end of the next game he has failed to have a running back attempt 20 runs or gain 100 yards, he will be summarily fired. Further inform him that a shock collar will be attached to him during the next game, and if he persists on calling a pass for third-and-less-than-four, it will be activated on each such play.
3. Bring the fullback back into the game. Reid has called approximately 10 passes or runs each year involving a fullback that I can think of during his entire tenure here. Josh Parry, while at best an average receiver and not an extremely fast open-field runner, is 6′2, 250. Brian Westbrook, while an excellent runner and great receiver, is basically my size (5′8, 180). A lot of the holes that we need Westbrook to run through later in the game could be opened quite well if we used Parry to wear the defenses down. He’s a pretty good blocker, which makes me think that just from sheer size he should be able to do *something* with the ball if you hand it to him. Hell, it worked for Jerome Bettis, who’s not exactly a speed demon.
4. The secondary is completely screwed up. I realize that the defense has taken a lot of injury this year, but don’t we have any practice squad guys who can go man-to-man with a moderately fast wide receiver? ‘Cause these cornerbacks can’t.
That’s my 2 cents.
