Transit Strike

SEPTA, the Philadelphia public transit company, is on strike. I didn’t really notice a change on the way to work this morning but the ride home was a nightmare. There were lines of several hundred in the concourse for most of the commuter trains - and so many of the people waiting in them were talking on their cell phones, I couldn’t get into the phone network.
As usual, it’s a fight over health care benefits. The costs are going up so much, they’re eating into whatever small gains the workers made. One item that caught my eye was a $5000 deductible for hospitalization.
Anyway, here’s hoping they settle soon. It’s a real mess.

I hadn’t seen that. Simply amazing, but not in a good way.
In the meanwhile, my commute has increased by 15-20 minutes each way (so far…Tuesday should be worse).
At somepoint real soon, I expect homebound trains to bypass the Temple stop because they’re too full. =(
