Something’s Up, Or: I Heart Harry Reid

Wonder what this is?
The Senate’s Democratic leader Harry Reid (D-NV) unexpectedly pulled the Senate into secret session Tuesday afternoon in order to have closed discussion of Iraq intelligence, RAW STORY has learned.
The maneuver immediately shuttered the doors of the Senate and cleared the Senate press galleries. It has been invoked just 53 times in the history of the body. It was last used during the Clinton impeachment hearings.
Closed sessions were also employed in 1997 for the Chemical Weapons Convention, and in 1992 during debate over China’s “Most Favored Nation” trade status.
The Senate can vote to end closed session by a simple majority. It is unknown how long the Senate will remain closed, Reid’s office told RAW STORY.
UPDATE: This is to ask why the Senate Intelligence Committee never delivered on the promised Phase 2 of the investigation into pre-war Iraq intelligence - and Frist is ready to blow over the whole thing.
I think our party is growing a spine.
MORE UPDATE: Go read the Washington Note. This is getting good.

I just heard Ed Henry and then Matthews talk about Frist breaking the rules when he campaigned against Daschle and now he’s crying about being stabbed in the back. Maybe the msm won’t swallow the bs this time.
Can I get a HELL YEA!
OBTW. the last closed session of the senate was impeachment proceedings of William Jefferson Clinton, not the 25 years being reported by CNN.
Oh, screw them. It’s not breaking the rules, or tradition. It’s in the rules, and Reid used it. Is it a strong measure, sure, but good for him. It NEEDED to be done.
Note how the repubs want to break/bypass/rewrite the rules via a vis the ‘nuclear option’, while the Dems play within the rules.
Comment by Frist……….
“The United States Senate has been hijacked by the Democratic leadership, said Majority Leader Bill Frist. “They have no convictions, they have no principles, they have no ideas, the Republican leader said.
He seems to imply that Republicans have all these things, well they have indictments, but at least for the moment do not have convictions.
I even called out the Waaabulance for this one:

Now is the time to send money to the DNC. Show them what happens when they finally fight back HARD.
Frist said he felt like he got slapped in the face. I think he’s right on this time.
Give ‘em hell, Harry!
Don’t count on an angry populace to react too adversely to the faked WMD intel. Bush has anger going for him above all else. Americans will put up with a lot of shenanigans if in the end they think their military is killing Arabs and Muslims. That’s what many, if not most, want. 9/11 seared our consciousness and if it takes torture, bombing civilians, losing American soldiers, loss of trust in the world, anything at all, they’ll go along with it if the brown, godless horde from the Middle East is being slaughtered. Bush knows this and uses it. Stop counting your chickens.
A spine? And soon a heart? We can hope.
