Of Course They Knew

Somehow, CNN, WashPo and the Times will figure out a way to make Bush the victim in all this. From Murray Waas:
Ten days after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President Bush was told in a highly classified briefing that the U.S. intelligence community had no evidence linking the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein to the attacks and that there was scant credible evidence that Iraq had any significant collaborative ties with Al Qaeda, according to government records and current and former officials with firsthand knowledge of the matter.
The administration has refused to provide the Sept. 21 President’s Daily Brief, even on a classified basis, and won’t say anything more about it other than to acknowledge that it exists.
The information was provided to Bush on September 21, 2001 during the “President’s Daily Brief,” a 30- to 45-minute early-morning national security briefing. Information for PDBs has routinely been derived from electronic intercepts, human agents, and reports from foreign intelligence services, as well as more mundane sources such as news reports and public statements by foreign leaders.

Clearly, Harriet Miers forgot to show it to the boss. This whole Iraq mess is her fault.
And you can’t blame a little old lady, right?
C’mon now, that’s hardly polite . . .
Let’s all move on. Time to look ahead, not back.
Hey! How about some more tax cuts?
More and more, I think he is a victim of this, in a sick, twisted sort of way. I think he’s not nearly bright enough to have done this all by himself, but history will blame him.
Do I feel sorry for him? Hell, no. He wanted the power, bad, and it was GIVEN to him. But he couldn’t hang on, and the people around him told him (and still tell him) only what he wanted to hear. So he gave them carte blanche to do as they would, with the results we see now. If it hadn’t already killed so many, made so many suffer, it really would be a sad commentary.
So it’s pardons for all, withdrawal of troops as soon as they can figure out how to spin it (we won, peace with honor, and the democrats are cowards), and then everything will be hunky-dory, yes?
Don’t kid yourself - Bush is not well spoken, but neither are many CEOs who do reckless things.
He just may think that he is allowed to operate a certain way because he is ignorant of the proper ethos. But ignorance and obtuseness is not stupidity.
Then again, he may have been playing with the new X-Box that day.
Bush has so many ethically-challenged people around him, particularly Cheney and Rove, that he thinks his own ethics are excellent by comparison.
