Balzac Nation

So we were sitting around at DL last night, talking about the comedy that is Pajamas Media Open Source Media Pajamas Media. (We were also trying to figure out how to get funding for a blogger ethics conference in Venezuela, but I digress.)
Anyway, everyone started throwing around ideas for a liberal version of Pajamas Media. Duncan was in an especially puckish mood and suggested “Ballsac Media.” I said we should spell it “Balzac” because (as Jeremy chimed in at the exact same time) “it’s more literary!”
And a legend was born.

I must have missed something.
What are all these recurring references to a bloggers’ ethics conference referring to?
I think you had to be there.
It’s that the media is always screaming about bloggers’ ethics and lack thereof. It’s kind of an in-joke unless you read Atrios regularly.
We want to go visit friends in Venezuela, so we thought if we had an ethics conference, we could get someone to pay to send us there.
Chorus:
He left River City
The Library building
But he left all the books to _her_.
Eulalie McKechnie Shinn :
Chaucer.
Rabelais.
BALL-ZAC !
Pick a little talk a little
Pick a little talk a little
Cheep cheep cheep!
Talk a lot, pick a little more
I think you should have discussed a government ethics conference in Venezuela, the bloggers aren’t the hotspot there for the ethics problems.
