All Colored People Think Alike

I caught some of Press the Meat this morning, and I remember thinking this was odd, but I was brushing my teeth at the time and didn’t give it much thought. Then I read this on Huffington Post. Basically, Tubby Tim asked Barack Obama to explain what the other colored guy (Harry Belafonte) was up to in Venezuela. Now, why do you suppose he thought Barack would know?
UPDATE: An astute blogger tells us about the only other time (based on a preliminary search) that Russert asked a guest about Belafonte. And who was that guest? Why, Colin Powell…. Do the math.
Russert has no upbringing, a crass individual at best.
Maybe Russert should have Al Roker on the show to provide these sorts of insights.
Actually, the racist underpinnings are not the main flaw in what Russert did. There is a double standard in “journalisming” today that says that a Dem has to defend any outrageous thing someone else says, no matter how insignificant the source. But never, never ask a Repub about the racist, bigoted things someone like Rush Limbaugh says on a daily basis.
This is how the repub noise machine can be so powerful - it remains under the radar screen of “official” pary position, yet the repubs gain tremendous advantage from the non-stop onslaught.
The thing about Harry Belafonte is not that he is black, but that he is so obscure. Does Timmy actually hang on his every word???? What an ass.
