Via my buddy Noz, who is allergic to upper case:
i don’t know how many of my readers are from philadelphia, but the 12th street gym is really a fixture in this city’s gayborhood. the gym is owned by robert guzzardi. guzzardi, it seems, has already donated over $4,000 to the santorum campaign, a fairly large amount considering just how early this is in the campaign season.
now obviously, guzzardi can legally donate to whoever he wants. i’m not saying the contributions violate any campaign finance laws (i have no idea if they do or don’t). but santorum is widely known as one of the staunchest opponents of gay rights in the senate. i wonder if the customers of the 12th street gym realize that some of their dues money might be ending up in the campaign coffers of senator “man on dog.”
Time to show some real muscle, boys. How about it?

Next time I see Mr. Guzzardi, he’ll get a well-deserved smack square in the jaw with my beaded clutch, a swift kick in the nuts, and then I’ll cancel my long-standing membership. (I’ve known he supported “the dark side” for a while but just never got off my duff to do anything about it.)
Well, there’s no day like tomorrow.
If I were a member, I’d cancel effective immediately. And I’d make sure they knew why.
…and this, my dear sister, is why gay rights have not moved much. Gay people continue to think with their wallets instead of their minds. Playing devil’s advocate, I guess I could say that all other rights for gay people have been denied (marriage, adoption, etc.) so why not stick by the one right we have left; making and keeping your money in your pocket. It’s sad…but true. These ‘checkbook activists’, as Andrew Sullivan once deemed them, need to put away their money and stand up and be counted. That’s the only way things will ever change.
