Social Whirl

I’ve been very social this week, I have. I was back at Drinking Liberally for a short visit Tuesday, and at Johnny Brenda’s happy hour Friday to welcome back my dear friend Somegirl from Venezuela. Last night, I had dinner at the White Dog (I had a scrumptious battered St. Peter’s fish with crabmeat and then pot de creme for desert). Then my best friend and I went to the reception held by Democracy for America for their new trainees, where I talked to a lot of familiar faces from the Patrick Murphy and the Lois Murphy campaigns, and met the very sharp (and very young) head of the campus Penn Democrats. I also spoke with Sherry Cohen, whose mother Florence will likely run for the city council seat left vacant by the recent death of her husband. “If she supports the non-smoking law, she has my vote,” I told her.
It was incredibly cold and windy when we left, but that was good because by the time we’d walked back to my friend’s hotel, most of the smoke had been blown from my hair and coat. Or maybe it just seemed that way.
We hung out at the hotel bar, drank tea and talked late into the night. (Well, for us, anyway. I was home by 11 p.m.)
And today? Today is a ritual. It’s my Dead Ex-Husband’s birthday, and I’ll be having lunch at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant with one of his former girlfriends.

You are such a panic, girl…What *is* this about? Good lord, you are such an open, wonderful potpourri of psychopathology. (he said *not* unkindly.

It’s just typical of the kind of unconventional relationships that are more likely to form in major metro areas. There are a lot more of us here, and we tend to be more accepting of things because we bump up against so many other (diverse) people.
Plus, there was no overlap. So what’s the big deal?
i’ve discovered that trader joe’s trader zen air freshener helps to remove smoke smell from jeans and coat. and it smells like coriander…
