You Passed 8th Grade Math |
![]() Congratulations, you got 8/10 correct! |
Got this over at Duncan’s, and I was almost afraid to take it, since I flunked Algebra I. (I was out sick when they taught factoring, and never caught up.) I got a perfect score on the verbal when I took the SAT - and got whatever points they give you for signing your name right on the math.

Congratulations! You have qualified for a free, no-obligation lesson in factoring. Catch up on those missed lessons from long ago! Be the envy of your friends and co-workers!
(By the way, are we talking about factoring integers or polynomials here?)
Your free lesson gives you all this knowledge, and much, much more.
Never be embarrassed again when your friends are having a factoring party and you have to make up some excuse because you are afraid of stepping on your partner’s feet. Instead, be sure-footed with Factor Companion, the software that takes the “ack!” out of factoring.
I also got 8/10 but I wish they would tell you which ones you got wrong. I do know one of the two just not sure on the other.
10 out of 10 here. Woo!
8/10, took me 20 minutes, alas. and I think I missed the number definition questions. musta hadda cold that week.
an integer…by any other name…would be a wrong answer.
Hmmmm…9/10. That math minor is finally paying off.
10/10
I had to make an educated guess on the statistics one though. It’s been too long since I’ve worried about mode and standard deviation.
10/10, but I seem to remember it being harder last time.
I failed, but then again 6-11th grade I was tutored almost every day in math, I’m a math idiot. All I can say in defence is that in 1st grade as a very stupid school experament we were taught “new math” learning to count in non normal bases and early algebratic ideas. It was the only year it was taught. It really messed up the whole process. And in 2nd grade found that I could not see very well. Reading did not suffer, the basics were taught, “Dick & Jane”. Yet it didn’t keep me from working on the option’s tradeing floor in Chicago, for 8 years. I understand the basics add, subtrack, divide, fractions. Instead of fractions, decimal points are used now.
I reported my failure to illustrate the point that math dumbies like myself can survive in a math expressed job.
10/10, took about 3 or 4 minutes.
Apparently I aced math in 8th grade, since I got 10/10 correct on the test.
Then again, one of my favorite game systems has been described as being math-intensive. I’m sure it helped.
10/10 here in five minutes.
Now,… is my prize that Deborah Howell will answer ONE of my DAMN questions over at WaPo blog?
9/10, but I’ve never taken statistics.
The problem with the SAT is your score gets stuck in your head for the rest of your life and with it is the feeling it’s a valid measure of something other than how good you were at taking SAT tests.
I suck at math and got 10/10, and my SAT scores back then were not that great but better than average, so they say. I never did trust these tests. However, I don’t remember doing this level of math in 8th grade. I think it was 9th grade level in my day. Then again, I remember this stuff was hard and thought, what is the objective? Or, when do I have to to use this x and y and z stuff? Now, if they told me, “its when you’re an engineer,” I would have said to myself, OK, I’m not cut for engineering.
pecos, not just the SAT. I can tell you what I got on the PSAT and the GMAT, too.
8/10, and I’m annoyed they don’t give you the answers as well. I enjoyed stats, so if that’s one of the ones I got wrong I’m unhappy.
Shoot, which one was the “stats” question??? I will take an educated guess: the one about the number two in a sequence of numbers asking about average, median and that stuff. Well, logically, average and median don’t work, and deviation does not make sense either; so, its mode, whatever that is. That’s the trouble with these tests.
The math test was fun. I’d like to see them come up with one: “Are You an Economic Girlie-Man”
