Here are some of my favorite lines from today’s White House press conference (which will be re-broadcast tonight at 8 EST on CSPAN):
The terrorists haven’t given up. They’re tough-minded. They like to kill. There’s going to be more tough fighting ahead.
None of that easy fighting. No, siree.
We’re making progress because we’ve got a strategy for victory.
I don’t know what it is, exactly. Karl told me to say that.
The growing economy is a result of the hard work of the American people and good policies here in Washington.
If only the twins could afford their own place and I didn’t have to run into their “guests” in the hallway every morning.
I’m going to continue to work with Congress to restrain federal spending. I’m going to continue to work with Congress to achieve the goal of cutting the deficit in half by 2009.
They were gonna spend a whole lot more, especially that Tom DeLay fella. But I stopped ‘em. Yep.
I’m going to look forward to working with Congress to make sure health care is affordable and available.
Translation: More tax cuts, so my rich friends can afford insurance.
We’re going to work with Congress to make sure we meet our commitments to our fellow citizens who were affected by Katrina.
Except the coloreds. They don’t vote for us anyway.
I mean, I think, for example, of the trailers sitting down in Arkansas. Like many citizens, I’m wondering why they’re down there, you know. How come we’ve got 11,000?
So I’ve asked Chertoff to find out, “What are you going to do with them? The taxpayers aren’t interested in 11,000 trailers just sitting there. Do something with them.”
Put some hookers in ‘em, or something.
I believe that my job is to go out and explain to the people what’s on my mind. That’s why I’m having this press conference, see? I’m telling you what’s on my mind. And what’s on my mind is winning the war on terror.
And I can only think of one thing at a time. Terra, terra, terra. Terra all the time. Laura wishes I could stop thinking about it. “Bushie, let’s play cards.” Nope, can’t. Thinking about the war on terra.

“We aren’t going to let ‘terrorists’ dictate our policies unless it helps our spin”.
(We can’t leave Iraq - that’s what the terrorists want us to do)
“We’re making progress because we’ve got a strategy for victory.”
Victory? Wait - over what, exactly? I thought we weren’t at war with Iraq (or at least he sure does avoid the word). I’m so confused…
Are the lines in italics verbatim Dubya quotes?
If so, his brain is turning to mush again.
God, is that man a cretin. And that’s after being briefed and rehearsed.
“We’re making progress because we’ve got a strategy for victory.â€
If you have a strategy for victory, why do you keep doing what you’re doing now?
My wife and I watched this press conference today and were stunned. We haven’t watched one in awhile. This guy is such a disgusting liar - I especially love the stuff about our enemies being willing to kill innocent people to achieve their objectives.
Anyone ever hear the word “projection”? I guess it’s not like a dry drunk to be self-actualized or pay much attention to his own foibles.
You left out the terrorist Zarqawi, the guy we could have captured before the war, the head beheader . . . blah, blah, blah.
