Protecting Marriage

Ken Blackwell’s claiming the mantle of “protecting marriage” in Ohio via a barrage of TV ads.
Here’s my challenge to him and every other right-wing opportunist out there: You want to protect marriage? You’re so politically brave and courageous?
Come out in favor of an amendment to ban divorce. Plain and simple.
How any sane person can blame gay marriage for undermining marriage instead of divorce is beyond me. But then, we’re talking about BushCo associates here. Watch the hands, not the lips, baby.

what a bumper-sticker it would make:
“One man, one woman, ONE TIME!”
Divorce in the case of abuse is debatable, but NO REMARRIAGE.
Let’s ask Santorum to state his position on the issue, for the record.
Is he going to go against his church for political expedience? Well?
Ah, but they don’t JUST blame divorce, do they? They blame feminism, TV, music, porn, the internet, and liberals.
If the only way a marriage can survive is if the participants remove themselves from the world completely, maybe the problem isn’t the world, but the marriage itself.
Maybe hiding from the world every single day until you got married (promise rings, anyone?) and then thrusting yourself out into the big bad world full of temptation, doesn’t help either… but I’ll leave that one to Pandagon.
