Hah. Indeed:
A Republican Senate plan to send $100 rebates to millions of taxpayers to help offset the escalating cost of gasoline appears to be ‘tanking’ with conservative and liberal voters, according to a story set for the front page of Monday’s New York Times, RAW STORY has found.
“Congressional offices report that some constituents quickly called and e-mailed to make their displeasure known, portraying the idea as pandering and insufficient,” reports the Times.
A spokesman for Texas Senator John Cornyn, Don Stewart tells the Times, “The conservatives think it is socialist bunk, and the liberals think it is conservative trickery.”

The conservatives think it is socialist bunk, and the liberals think it is conservative trickery.
In that case, both sides are right. The $100 rebates would be both bunk and trickery. What a combination. Oddly enough, most of today’s media and political “happy talk” fits exactly that dual description.
I mean, does it ever dawn on people that maybe being routinely and explicitly lied to during every commercial break (no, Andie McDowell does not really use Loreal Cream Hair Color) might have a corrosive effect on people’s morals and belief systems?
It’s both extortion and a floor polish. Jeesus, we’re supposed to love having our own money handed back to us that doesn’t pay the gas bill? How incomptent are these guys?
Oh boy enough money to fill the family hauler twice….what a sham and waste of the peoples money. It’s this kind of hollow feel good spending that we need to get rid of. Everybody is right to oppose it. It’s this kind of out of control spending that driving the conservatives away from supporting the republicans. True conservatives are alarmed that the budget is so out of control and spending hasn’t been reined in.
