You are a Working Class Warrior, also known as a blue-collar Democrat. You believe that the little guy is getting screwed by conservative greed-mongers and corporate criminals, and you’re not going to take it anymore.

Susie, be glad it was DemfromCT who posted this and not you. He got his head handed to him in the comments by a few people who accused him of, what else, scare tactics.
I think what they meant was, this scares me, I don’t want to be scared, therefore you must be wrong.
Even on kos, some people just don’t want to think at all. But Dem slugged it out like a hero and provided a load of links to help those who wanted more information.
This is an interesting post. I work on Pandemic planning every single day and get a weekly situation report from the CDC and WHO. The last report indicated human to human transmission was ruled out - all cases had close contact with infected poultry.
There is also growing evidence suggesting that those who have been infected were genetically predisposed to the disease.
Things seem to be worse in Indonesia because, unlike everywhere else, they don’t wipe out the poultry flocks when there is an outbreak. They cannot afford to compensate the farmers so the disease stays in close contact to humans.
I can tell you there is plenty to be afraid of in the world of infectious diseases. Bird Flu isn’t one of those things. Since 1997 around 120 people have died from the virus. Every single year, in teh U.S. alone, 30,000 die from seasonal influenza. That’s right. The plain old flu kills 30,000 people in this country every year.
Get your flu shot and wash your hands. Stay home if you are sick and stay away from people who are sick if you aren’t.
