Stolen Elections

You can’t talk about this at most of the Big Blogs - certainly not Big Orange. But Steven D over at the Booman Tribune still fights the good fight, and concludes:
Some think that we shouldn’t talk about stolen elections. You’ll only suppress the vote, they tell us. And you’ll hurt our credibility with the national media. Better to keep quiet. Keep working hard to rebuild the Democratic Party so that we can win back at least one house of the Congress.
Well, with all due respect, those people are wrong. I finally get what the poor people in the Cincinnati projects I canvassed for Kerry were trying to tell me with their weary postures, rueful grins and knowing looks. We don’t have a democracy. At least not the kind where each vote counts the same as every other one. What we have is a broken electoral process. No, more than just broken, our elections have been corrupted. They are a sham and a mockery, and its past time to be talking about that fact if we ever want to return a modicum sanity, honesty and common sense to our politics.
Because at present we are at the mercy of a silent coup. One where the media and the leadership of the Democratic Party have been effectively muzzled. One that is watered by a spigot of corporate money pouring into the coffers of Republican politicians and lobbyists. And one that is beholden to the radical agenda of certain fundamentalist right wing Christian pastors whose congregations provide the organizational muscle to pull it off. So I’m writing this diary to let them know that I believe that these elections have been stolen. And there are many more like me. We’ll have their backs if they ever have the guts to do what Mark Crispin Miller and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have done, which is simply to speak the truth. Our elections are a sham and its about time more people started saying so, inside the Democratic Party, and out in the progressive net roots. Because until we conquer our fear of this topic, until we confront our denial of the truth, we have no hope of taking back our country from the criminals and fanatics that are now in charge.
By “Big Orange” do you mean DailyKos? Steven D’s diary is at the top of the recommended list over there right now.
Apparently the definition of conspiracy theories changes over time. 9/11 speculation is still out of bounds at DKos, I think. And no, I don’t believe the towers were blown up from inside, but the fact that an exercise centered on an airplane crashing into the Pentagon was going on that very day gives me the major creeps. Big time…

I’m glad people are still talking and writing about this!
What I’m not so happy about is the years, literally decades, that the Republican Party has been talking about and promoting “change” from the bottom up. Remember all that “talk” about grass roots politics? What did the “liberal elites” in the Democratic Party think the Republicans were going to do once they took over local politics, which if I might be so forward-thinking to point out, includes local election administration? Anyone who didn’t foresee stolen elections had their heads up their asses, and frankly, that includes most everyone at the top of the Democratic Party food chain.
Will I be happy to see the Democratic Party leadership finally do something about this? Yes, of course! Will it happen in my lifetime? Not hardly. Will I be voting in any future elections, local, state, or federal? Why bother.

I never said or implied that investigations about the truth of 9/11 were out of bounds, it’s just that I haven’t seen enough plausible evidence of controlled demolitions. As to WTC 7, that’s a good point which I hadn’t considered. Are there any films or videos of that particular collapse?
I’m open to considering any new interpretations.
Ralph, there was a diary on dKos last week that linked to a movie, What’s the Truth?, that shows (among other things) the collapse of WTC7 building: here Watching that building implode really puts the lie not to investigate further what really happened on Sept 11, 2001. What the hell else could have done that but carefully set explosives? And ditto, the twin towers’ collapse. Just watch that movie and see what you think. Markos apparently thinks any more discussion of 9/11 on dKos is tinfoil hat territory and doesn’t like people to recommend such diaries. Same goes with discussions of voting fraud 2000 and 2004. Strange, to stifle knowledge and potential systemic change, while backing conservative Democrats, to boot.
