Looks like I picked the perfect week to be away. Some things never change, though - wacky Curt Weldon’s up to his old tricks.
I don’t suppose you’d call it “news” that the Wall St. Journal has another hit piece on Al Gore, but there you have it. (By the way, I was in a great bookstore in West Hollywood the other day, but didn’t buy a book because I didn’t want to carry another heavy thing home on the plane. I turned around and went back to pick up a People magazine. “I’m embarrassed that I looked at all these great books and the only thing I bought was People,” I said to the cashier. ‘Honey, you don’t have to apologize - this is L.A.,” she said archly. “That’s our Wall Street Journal.” She told me when studio execs buy the WSJ, they call it the Wally. As in, “I’ll take a Wally.” God, I love L.A.)
