Drinking Liberally Again

Let’s just say first that the San Francisco DL really rocks. The members are typical of the smart, funny, passionate people who show up at DLs around the country, so if you haven’t been to one yet, you’d better do it soon; no one likes to be the last person riding the trend wave!
I met some great folks at Zeitgist, which is exactly the kind of dive bar I love. (It reminded me of my beloved Johnny Brenda’s, without all the freakin’ smoke.) Oh! Oh! Celebrity moment - Sarah Carter, daughter of Jack (granddaughter of Jimmy), who is very savvy and sharp despite her apparent age of 13 (she said she’s married, though, so I must be off a few years) introduced herself and said she attended grad school at Penn before moving to SF.
I’m pleased to report that a lot of these young, smart people I met last night already have at least one campaign under their belts.
It was a great honor indeed to be visited by His Highness the King of Zembla and the swashbuckling Scaramouche. (Girls - they’re tall and dreamy!) The King kept buying me very large, very strong drinks, and since I didn’t have to go to work today, I drank them. (I’m actually a tad hung over this morning. Thank God I packed Excedrin.)
In addition to great conversation and repartee, these two offered their services as windbreaks as the evening got cooler. (Did I mention we were sitting outside?) I love California because you can sit outside pretty much all year. What’s not to like?
Tomorrow night, I’ll be at the Drinking Liberally in Santa Barbara, 8-10 pm at Elsie’s Bar, 117 W de la Guerra St (behind Paseo Nuveo Mall). Stop by and say hi!

Is there a DrinkyLiberally site in Asheville NC ? I would surely attend. Let me know.
Chapters of Drinking Liberally can be found at http://drinkingliberally.org/. Asheville’s is Thursdays at 7 at the Asheville Brewing Co.
I always kept a sweatshirt in the car when living in CA. The temp drops very fast on hot sunny day when the fog rolls in to cool things off, a 40 degree (F) change is nothing on the coast.
