The Culture of Life

I don’t normally link to the wingnuts, but in this case, I’ll make an exception:
I am not buying into the innocent civilians meme. If by ignorance, complicity, neglect or helplessness the Lebanese wouldn’t throw Hezbollah out and establish a strong government, then they must pay the price for the sins of Hizbollah. And if people put up with dictatorships, theocracies, totalitarian regimes - as they did in Nazi Germany — they deserve what Hezbollah deserves. Our only concern should be who started the war. Hezbollah/Hamas initiated the use of force and so stepped outside the principle of rights.
NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO GIVE UP THEIR RIGHT TO SELF DEFENSE FOR FEAR OF HURTING SOMEONE ELSE GUILTY OR INNOCENT. –Ayn Rand
So if Venezuela starts bombing the United States because we didn’t rise up and throw Bush out, we were asking for it. Just so you know.

OK, two quick points…
1. This is a nice example of a variation on that old adage that anyone who’s polite to you but rude to the waiter is unquestionably not a nice person: anyone who quotes Ayn Rand in support of an argument they’re making is evil to the core. It’s a perfect “tell”.
2. The same argument about the inexcusability of “tolerating” a totalitarian regime can be applied with equivalent intellectual rigor to the 3000+ who “got what they deserved” on 9/11 at the hands of a group of martyrs who felt their culture was being preyed upon by the foreign policies of the United States government since, well, before the beginning of living memory. I’m just sayin’. This wingnut has hit the trifecta (although they’ve dropped the bar pretty low these days): at once morally bankrupt, intellectually bankrupt, and spiritually bankrupt.
No wonder it’s been so blasted hot in the States this week; Hell must be building a whole new “Reserved for Bush Supporters” wing to meet projected needs….
