Dr. Thompson once wrote [paraphrased] that if you hold your eyes just right, and the light is just right, you can look out there and see where the wave crested and rolled back. What happened, we were winning, what happened?

We dropped the ball. We stopped The War - VietNam - but we didn’t stop War. Heady times, they were, with banner headlines and special editions proclaiming “The War is Over” and “Nixon Resigns”. Yeah! We Won! And then got our law degrees, jesus, stock options, a bemmer, a half million dollar house… We, dropped the ball. The war was over, but we didn’t stop war. And our supreme failure: we left the machinations, Cheney and Rumsfeld, in place to bite us on the ass thirty-five years later.
