It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Another hot, steamy day here in Philadelphia, and as a result, I am sucking back gallons of iced tea. The caffeine brings on hot flashes, which makes me hot, which only makes me want more iced tea. (Sigh.)
I read once that Philadelphia has the highest per capita consumption of iced tea (sweet tea, to you Southerners) in the country. Don’t know if it’s still true, but considering that we do have winter, that shows how much we must drink to make up for it the rest of the year.

I hope you are drinking real, brewed iced tea. Not that dreck from Turkey Hill or Wawa.
Oh God, no. I drink REAL tea.
Reminds me of the Slurpee capital of the world, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada also sometimes known as Winterpeg. A lot of people drink a lot of cold slurpees for a city that is well below zero for near 6 months of the year.
A true Southerner might dispute that the tea we have here is Sweet Tea, times I’ve been down south it seems they use a cup of sugar per glass which is way too sweet for me.
But I do love my tea and my Mr. Coffee Ice Tea machine, 3 refreshing quarts at a time.
That’s the way my mom made iced tea when we were growing up. It was so strong and had so much sugar, you could use it to strip paint.
As a transplanted Philly native who has lived in Raleigh for 20 years I would like to note that Iced Tea is available with and without the 5 lb. bag of sugar.
