Run, Al, Run

In this interview with the BBC, Al Gore talks about how all the focus in political campaigns is on getting enough money for television ads.
Personally, I think Al’s in a unique position to harness the power of the internet. Between CurrentTV, Google video and YouTube, his ads would spread like a bad cold on a packed subway. Which means he wouldn’t need as much money, and he wouldn’t have to be beholden to special interests.
Come on, Al. You know you want to.

PLEEEEEEASE, Al. You can do it!

In a just world, Al would be universally acknowledged as an American hero.
As it is, he was just the butt of a joke on the Emmys.
This is about bringing people into this medium amd making television people powered. This is about standing up to the status quo from the ONLY place Al Gore will truly have any leverage to do so. This also isn’t about Al Gore, and he knows that. CURRENT is also not a political station, nor is it partisan, and you would have known that had you been following his endeavors. He would never use his station for that purpose. And for all your supposed support, you didn’t even bother to post the link to the station, as if you really care. http://www.current.tv.
And your bs line, “come on Al, you know you want to do it” is just that…BS. Al Gore wants to makes changes in the way people become involved in this Democracy. He can’t do that enmeshed in the corrupt political system and complicit media that runs this country.
The reason he mentioned political ads in this country is because the media has controlled the message for way too long, and he believes PEOPLE should have more input in what they see on their screens. But God Forbid you actually talk about anything beyond your political soundbites that have no substance. CURRENT Tv is trying to bring about a television revolution of sorts with citizen journalism, and with bringing the medium of television beyond the conventional. Al Gore hopes to see CURRENT in 50 million homes by 2010. That won’t happen with him playing the the draft game for people who couldn’t even support his endeavors before An Inconvenient Truth came out. He isn’t using all of this for his own agenda, he is doing this out of a sincere desire to raise the level of Democratic discourse in this country.
CURRENT is not a political station, and Mr. Gore would not use it for that purpose. You would know that if you would actually read up on his endeavors instead of using them for your own political rhetoric.
Susie, you’re moving up the world… Jan (aka Patriot for Al Gore, aka “Mary”) is stalking you over at your own place now.
Jan, with all the time your spend harrassing Gore supporters you can’t have much time to actually fight Gore’s enemies, you know, like Inhofe, Pombo, Barton et al.
