Senate Votes To Maim Iraqi Children

It astounds me, how very far from decent some politicians can be. This shouldn’t even be an issue - but the envelope of decency has been pushed so very, very far with this administration:
An amendment to the 2007 defense appropriations bill that would have prevented military funding from paying for cluster munitions failed on the floor of the Senate by a vote of 30-70, RAW STORY has learned.
Prior to the vote on the measure, Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) presented the amendment along with photographs of Iraqi children who have been maimed by cluster munitions that were not tripped by their intended targets.
If you’ll recall, we just said “tsk, tsk” to the Israelis just last week for this very thing. But that, of course, was different. After all, we manufactured the bombs ourselves!

Care to guess how many Republicans voted in favor of the amendment? Go to

I noticed that Hillary Clinton was among the Democrats who joined the Republicans to defeat the amendment. I used to admire her, back when she worked for the Children’s Defense Fund.
