Taylor Marsh asks the question: Why didn’t Rep. Wacky Curt Weldon, political cheerleader, ever serve?
She says the Delaware County Daily Times should get busy and pin down the story.
You’d have to know that paper (reknowned for its coverage of local high school sports) to know how funny that is. Taylor, I wouldn’t hold my breath…

I’m too young to have been affected by the draft (and too old to be affected by the more recent draft registration stuff, lucky me), so I’m more than a bit hazy on the details.
I _presume_ that draft related records for individuals would be protected by some privacy rules. So Whacky Curt could waive privacy by filling out some form (which he will strenuously weasel out of).
But are there some FOIA avenues available? Such as:
If the answer for Weldon’s number comes back ZERO, that would be interesting.
Not that FOIA’s are a substitute for grilling Weldon about his non-service and (of course) about his most-excellent Iraqi adventures. But the Inky needs to follow up on this, there’s a good story here I’m sure.
This was a well thought out piece and does raise some good questions. Hopefully someone will ask the questions. If not the Delco Times then how about the DN? This is right up Attytoods alley.
The Delco Times is a JRC assrag that doesn’t get busy doing much of anything but flooding the company’s WebXchange with shitty stories about Philly’s pro sports teams (take today’s Phillies story, for example).
Holding one’s breath waiting for Delco, or any other JRC paper, to do anything substantive is indeed not advisable.
What’s JRC?
It’s the Journal Register Corporation, renowned for their horrible standards.
