Belated Birthday Wish

If you want to do something to make me happy in belated honor of my birthday, here it is.
My friend Melanie (Just Another Bump in the Beltway) is in pretty bad shape. She’s been sick and alone (without insurance) almost two months, and because she’s been throwing up, etc. for that entire time, her health is pretty screwed up - trouble sleeping, can’t eat, anxiety attacks, you name it. (And just to top things off, one of her cats just died.)
Oh, and did I mention she’s also unemployed? She’s been working her ass off on the avian flu wiki, and there was supposed to be funding, but it never came through.
Now she has to spend what’s left of her savings to get medical insurance - which, as you know, runs about $300 a month. What a mess.
It would be absolutely great if anyone who can afford it would go to her site and make a donation. Good karma, a mitzvah, whatever you want to call it… Another human being, someone who’s worked in the public interest for years, needs help. If you can afford it, please chip in.
