Republican Sex Police

While I am all about the benefits of voluntary celibacy, I think this is going a bit too far, don’t you think?
The federal government’s “no sex without marriage” message isn’t just for kids anymore.
Now the government is targeting unmarried adults up to age 29 as part of its abstinence-only programs, which include millions of dollars in federal money that will be available to the states under revised federal grant guidelines for 2007.
The government says the change is a clarification. But critics say it’s a clear signal of a more directed policy targeting the sexual behavior of adults.

This is just laughable.
No one in their twenties, except for Kathyrn Jean Lopez, is going to take this seriously.
And who in their right mind would want to get naked with K-Lo?

she looks like the box your refrigerator was delivered in, with a painted basketball for a head.
“Abstinence education programs, which have focused on preteens and teens, teach that abstaining from sex is the only effective or acceptable method to prevent pregnancy or disease. They give no instruction on birth control or safe sex.”
–We’re only going to educate you about abstinence. If you choose to ignore us, will give you no information on condoms or AIDS. You deserve what you get anyways for sinning like that.
“The message is ‘It’s better to wait until you’re married to bear or father children,’ ” Horn said. “The only 100% effective way of getting there is abstinence.”
–It’s better because we disagree with your decision to have children without being married. You should be married, even if you don’t love him, even if he beats you. It’s wrong to be a single parent and it’s the government’s job to regulate the morality of its citizens (as of 2000).
Which reminds me, Susan, that I hope your novel is coming along swimmingly!
Speaking of which, Susie, how’s the ol’
vow of celibacy coming along?
Fine, thank you.
Well, my religion mentions at least one case of abstinance not being effective birth control.
My family includes another: my daughter was raped, resulting in my grandson. No amount of anti-sex propaganda would have helped her avoid pregnancy.
Americans finally realize the try-before-you-buy works just as well with sex as it does with commodities. Rather than marrying and then shacking up with hot sex coming after the nuptuals, Americans are increasingly putting out before putting on the wedding rings.Women are just as likely as men to get it on before matrimony.
I think this is just the sign of the times. I mean, we like to test things, try them out, before making a purchase. Why should sex and marriage be any different? The stigma associated with pre-marital sex is dead. Long live free love!
