Give Yourselves A Hand

First of all, let’s give credit to Howard Dean and the 50-state strategy. (And to those bloggers who believed in him and fought to get him installed as DNC chair. Remember that?)
I’m feeling generous, so I won’t note that Rahm’s DINO candidates were the weak links in the victory chain (cough Christine Cegalis cough), and instead will congratulate him on raising much of the money that made last night possible. (He’s still an asshole, and we’ll have to work hard to keep him in check.)
To the organizations who worked so hard to mobilize the voters by making us invested in the process of getting out the vote, thank you. Special mention goes to Move On, which continues to grow and innovate.
To my fellow bloggers, who sacrificed their own mental, physical and financial health to keep pounding away at the powerful corporate media machine and the Republican talking points. (If you haven’t done it, you have no idea of the toll it takes.)
To the unions, who worked their asses off for the Democrats and made a huge difference.
But most of all, thanks to those of you who showed up every day, who sent the emails, signed the petitions, called the TV stations, made the contributions and educated yourselves on the issues. Special thanks to those of you who worked the campaigns, and the polls.
You’re good Americans. Nice work, citizens.
