According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Pennsylvania’s municipalities dominate the 2007 list of America’s worst asthma cities. Three cities in the top ten in the nation. Six in the top 25. Are we number one in inhaler sales? Here’s the rankings:
2. Philadelphia
5. Harrisburg, Pa.
9. Scranton, Pa.
16. Allentown, Pa.
21. Lancaster, Pa.
23. Pittsburgh
No other state has more than two cities in the top 25. Arrrgh. Pennsylvania - we’re sporearific, or pollenmendous, or something.

Breathing is overrated. If we all pull together we can beat Atlanta next year.
After the merger, PhilaPittsAllenScranHarrisLancaburgertownadelphia will own the title.
Don’t forget the cockroach allergies. Old cities tend to have a lot of dried up bugs in their buildings, and it can trigger asthma.
Bisulfites and bisulfates? Asthma and hayfever are allergic responses that are also tied to above average intelligence and neuroses, and are genetically based. Stress?
