God Give Me Strength

I love the movie “Grace of My Heart,” loosely based on the life of Carole King. Larry Klein did a great job, pulling together new songs that sound like the 60s era. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out why they put the Elvis Costello version on the soundtrack instead of Kristen Vigard’s haunting vocal.

Back a hundred years ago, I loved Sammy Davis, Jr, as Sportin’ Life in the movie of “Porgy and Bess.” But when I bought the soundtrack album, Cab Calloway had been substituted. The problem was prior contractural obligations. Probably the same here.
I thought that was Ileana Douglas.
How weird. I went to school with Kristen Vigard.
I went to great lengths to track down Kristin Vigard’s one long out of print CD release, because back in high school my best friend had a copy of it on tape that finally wore out and I really missed it. About 10 years ago, after a few years of fruitless searching, my sales rep at National Geographic found it for me at a used music store. It was a hobby of his to find obscure stuff for people, and in all his sales travels he got to scour a lot of music stores. I still have it, and thankfully it hasn’t worn out yet.
