I wonder how globe sales are doing these days.
Carroll’s family store has sold globes for decades and recently remodeled its showroom in the Crossroads district. He said globe sales took a hit after Germany unified and Russia split in the early 1990s. “People were hesitant to invest the money in one at a time when the world was changing in major ways,” Carroll said.
The borders in the Middle East seem potentially… tentative at this point. Would you buy a brand new globe at this time?

If it were an updated version of the sevnties vintage National Geographic topographical with no water globe I have.
Oh… and no countries.
I’d buy one of those revolving mirrored globes.
They are so cool!
The Christian Science Center in Boston has the Mapparium , a 30′ diameter map of the world on the inside of a glass globe, which you can walk through. It’s very cool, but countries and boundaries have changed a lot since it was built in the 30s.
Maybe someone needs to invent a software based, LCD globe for which you can get real time, wireless updates via the internets. If I was clever I would do it but…..
