Pet Food Recall

A PSA for pet owners:
Over the past several days, the Fund has received feedback in the United States (none in Canada) raising concerns about pet food manufactured since early December, and its impact on the renal health of the pets consuming the products.
The list includes a lot of store brands and some well-known upscale brands, too. Check here to see if your pet’s food is part of the recall. Kidney trouble is serious business with pets - don’t delay.

I have purchased Nutro Natural Choice DRY Dog food for two years and now I am concerned about purchasing it any more. Is there anything wrong with the DRY dog food and should I be concerned any further, especially about long term effects that it will have? Could I please have some specifics on the problems?
I have no idea - I’m just passing the news along. I believe if you follow the PSA link, there’s some contact info. You should call the company directly to find out if it affects the particular food you use.
I use Nutro Natrual Choice dry in a the 40 ob bag. Well, technically, my dogs do.
Its not on the list. Don’t worry about it.
The affected foods seem to be all either canned or foil pouch. Of course the stuff we give our dog was on the list. Ugh. Here’s the link: http://www.menufoods.com/recall/product_dog.html
Thanks for the link, Maya. I have a cat and a dog. Don’t think their food is on the list.
My vet prescribed my cat Eukanauba LB because he is allergic to wheat gluten. I thought my cat food was ok because 1)news reports said the wheat gluten was contaminated with rat poison (again, mine is wheat gluten free) and 2)I called the vet and they assured me their food was ok, all numbers had been checked. Well the food caused my cats to throw up, not drink water and wheez. when i stopped feeding it to them they drank more water than they ever have and the throwing up/wheezing stopped. When I called my vet to have my cats examined, they were unconcerned and refused to see my pets unless I paid full price, because this situation is the manufacturers fault. Even though they told me on the phone they have had a cat die because of the food recall!!! My cats were only on this food because of recommendation of our vet, not the recommendation of the manufacturer. If anyone knows what I should do, please email me. My cats are sick and it’s not just the wheat gluten!!!
