A lot can happen between now and then, but apparently he’s planning to run for a sixth term in 2010. Sure seems like he should be vulnerable in both the primary and/or general…

You are a Working Class Warrior, also known as a blue-collar Democrat. You believe that the little guy is getting screwed by conservative greed-mongers and corporate criminals, and you’re not going to take it anymore.

There’s a poll over on PhillyFuture with the various possible outcomes for Specter listed…
i hope you’re right, because it also seemed like he should have been vulnerable in both the primary and general in 2004.
He was pretty vulnerable in the primary in 2004, but the Dems ran a pretty dull campaign in the fall.
In 2004, he WAS vulnerable, and across the state, rigt-wing dingaling Pat Toomey was kicking Specter’s ass.
Then, the white house came in to protect their radical-in-moderate’s clothing: they needed Specter’s magical Cloak of Moderation to confirm Alito and Roberts, as well as his support for torture and wiretapping. He’s been playing that role quite well for years, their ace-in-the-hole, and there was no way the Administration was going to jeopardize that, even for a blood-red conservative like Toomey.
Thanks for the link. I’d taken you off my blogroll when you announced you were on hiatus while working for Knox, since you’re back blogging you’re back on the blogroll. Nice you see you writing again.
Specter won’t have Santorum stumping for him in 2010 either, remember. That made a difference among right wingers. Toomey could very well knock him off in the primary and he’s been doing favors, raising money, and supporting conservatives with the CFG. Lots of local politicos on the right wing are going to owe him come 2010.
