Mitch McConnell is Offended

“The final bill is likely to have the offending language in it,” the Senate minority leader said as the Senate prepared to begin debating the war-funding bill, which sets March 31, 2008, as a goal for removing combat troops from Iraq.
In Mitch McConnell’s world, and indeed the world of your standard GOP wingnut, the mere suggestion that we withdraw troops from Iraq (as American voters clearly demanded in 2006) is enough to elicit suptters of outrage. Goodness me, Mitch McConnell (currently being sued for copyright enfringement by the remains of Orville Redenbacher’s face) is offended, whatever shall we do?
Well I for one have sympathy for Mitch: like the good senator, I am also offended by what’s gone on with regard to Iraq.
Like sending our troops on a wild goose chase, and unwinnable war with no clear mission, exit strategy, or end in sight: that’s offensive.
Or leaving soldiers to rot in Walter Reed hospital, and then telling the soldiers and the hospital staff to stop talking to the media once the sscandal is exposed.
Or the daily body count: as of this writing, 44 were killed across Iraq today.
And there’s ever so much more. I think we should all give the easily-offended Senator McConnell our sympathy. You can reach him in DC at (202) 224-2541: they say misery loves company, so perhaps you can offer the gentleman from Kentucky some succor as you explain to him what particularly offends you about the war in Iraq.

What is it with these prissy Republican Senators? They all remind me of Aunt Polly in Tom Sawyer, a fussy aunt.
Senate Iraq vote could come down to wire…
An upcoming Senate vote on the Iraq war could come down to just one or two votes, testing Democratic…
