If You Meet The Buddha on the Road, Kill Him

Big Orange has pissed off a lot of people with his casual “whatever” attitude toward online misogyny and the assorted threats that accompany it. I’m hoping he’s less flippant in light of this week’s campus killings (and the fact that he now has a daughter) but I’m not holding my breath.
Sometimes people mistake success for blanket validation of their every opinion. I don’t know if this is one of those times, but maybe. I’ve never idealized Markos the way so many people seem to do, so it’s not as if he’s fallen from grace in my eyes. To me, he’s another blogger with his own opinions (albeit a very successful one, whose site has sparked a wonderful activist community). He has power and influence, but so do a lot of people.
In other words, he’s not some political Buddha.

Markos is a sexist asshole and has been for a long time. This is not new.
Perhaps if somebody sent him links to everybody who is saying, “You’re a jerk,” his reply would be even less to the point.
I’m glad he doesn’t spend so much time on Kos anymore, and I’m glad I found so many other wonderful people to listen to, instead.
I knew he was a jerk, but, wow.
