In case you’ve been wondering, it appears we can thank genetically-engineered corn.

There have been several theories put out there & I don’t think anyone really knows for sure, though of course we’d all like to. I’m a little skeptical about the cell phone theory since there have been lots of cell phones in recent years, but the bees are only getting hammered just now. Of course, I don’t know how many years that type of corn has been around, either. It’s a dangerous mystery…
Maya: If I had to choose between these two theories, I’d go with the corn, as I believe it is released anew each year (more profits for Monsanto, et. al!) and the formulation is tweaked constantly. So a bad tweak could have this sort of immediate effect.
That’s just my hazy understanding of it.
My point in mentioning the cell phone theory was that these theories are all in their preliminary stages.
I’ve floated the notion that it’s the Rapture, and all the preachers were wrong about what species it would involve.
I hope these beekeepers have alternate sources of income.
Ditto for the farmers who will soon become affected.
But you know what? Maybe Monsanto did this deliberately
to increase the market for their proprietary seeds,
which do not require bee pollination. I wouldn’t put it past them.
John, that’s the best theory I’ve heard so far!
