The Unannounced

Things are going so well in Iraq that members of the administration can’t announce their visits in advance. Or allow their children into the country.
Reporters had pressed Cheney staffers for days about whether he would go to Iraq on the current trip. The staffers never denied it outright, but didn’t tell the reporters accompanying Cheney until after Air Force Two had lifted off from Andrews Air Force Base. Not all of Cheney’s aides made the trip — some staffers, including his daughter Liz, flew separately to the United Arab Emirates.
Liz Cheney in Iraq for a few hours? No way. Your children in Iraq for 15 months? No problem.
If they leave Cheeney there too long, he might shoot some innocent people.
