Comcasted (Again)

My Comcast modem only works some of the time. I’ve had the repairman here three times in the last month, but because it was working when he was here, “there’s nothing I can do.”
Of course not.
And since I’m working seven days a week, it’s not exactly easy for me to get a day off to sit and wait for the cable guy.
Now I find my trackball mouse is working sporadically. By unplugging and plugging the USB cable repeatedly, I managed to download the latest software driver.
It still doesn’t work. I give up.

I used to have the same problem with my Comcast modem. Every once in a while it would just quit working even though all the lights were on. I traced the problem to my router. Simply unplugging the router for about 5 minutes and plugging it back in again fixed it. Unfortunately I had roommates at the time and the router and modem was in my room so they were always waking me up in the morning wanting me to fix it.
Nope, I’ve tried that. It works maybe one out of 15 times.
Why are you renting the modem? Go out and for less than a years rent you can get a modem of your own that will be better quality. Just check with comcast before you get it that they support that model it makes the tech support at set up much easier since they have to do something for it to actually work.
what john said. i used the comcast rented modem for years and had all kinds of problems. then i went out and bought a cable-modem from staples and it works great now.
